The purist approach of eliminating data because of `bias of ascertainment' is admired, but it is hard for clinicians to offer the suggestion of an 8% risk when the two confirmed carriers who have had offspring have a total of 10 pregnancies between them resulting in one healthy girl, two spontaneous abortions, one carrier status, and six cases of `Typus Edinburgensis.'
