"Clinical gudgement" is obviously derived from "gudgeon"—a gullible person, or, from the fish of that name, one who will swallow anything (Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, 1968). The term must refer to the practice of making clinical decisions on shaky or absent evidence; the complement, in fact, to the more familiar term. How about a "gudgement of the month" award?
