AB The recent National Symposium on Laboratory Aspects of Newborn Screening addressed many of the issues reflected in the recently published recommendations regarding newborn screening.1 These guidelines are extremely important and represent a great deal of thought and effort on the part of the Committee on Genetics. All of the published recommendations were whole-heartedly endorsed by the Symposium participants and unanimous support was given to a resolution concerning the importance of Recommendation 2 (a recommendation concerning the importance of testing).
