To help make his points the author, a psychiatrist who recently completed 2 years' service in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army, selects isolated case histories with the result that one not familiar with service life gains the impression that the average military family has far more problems than its civilian counterpart. Chapter Two entitled "Discipline: Authority Miscarried" is a case in point.
