Abstract
The use of salmeterol inhaled twice daily compared with either placebo or albuterol gave significant increases in morning and evening peak flow as well as sustained increases in FEV1, and reduced asthma symptoms throughout the day and night. Responses were similar at day 1 and week 12 and no deterioration of asthma control was observed within the study period.
