Assessment of Telephone Survey Data

Abstract

The article by Briss et al¹ describes injuries at child care centers using information collected through a telephone survey of center directors. Telephone surveys have been used to collect information about child care centers regarding injuries,² safety practices,³ and infectious diseases.^4-8 To evaluate the quality of the data obtained during telephone interviews, we compared the telephone responses of day care center directors with written responses to the same questions from care givers working in those centers.
