Abstract
I read with interest the method of anesthetizing the skin before any pain was inflicted (Pediatrics. November 1993).1 I have been using ethyl chloride spray for more than 30 years to do the same thing. We call it "chicken juice" for those who are "chickens" and can't stand pain. It becomes instantly effective with no waiting period. There is no pam with using a needle directly through semifrozen skin. This is very acceptable to the children and even some adults.
