It's refreshing that a bicycle accident reconstruction expert took the time to review and comment on our recent publication. In the public health and medical fields, separating children from traffic is frequently recommended as a measure to minimize contact between children and motor vehicles. Mr Schubert's comments, however, illustrate the need for multidisciplinary approaches to injury prevention. Traffic engineers and others involved in bicycle safety issues, for example, can provide expertise in this area of injury control.
