Thank you for the second letter regarding our paper on extraordinary urinary frequency. We would like to respond to this as well.
We thank Drs Asnes and Mones for their comments. Pollakiuria and pollakisuria are synonyms for urinary frequency. Pollakis is a Greek term for often, although it has rather infrequent application in medical English, being limited only to pollakiuria and pollakidipsia in Dorland's Dictionary.1 The Oxford English Dictionary employs this prefix only in one word, the botanic term, pollakanthic.2
