Abstract
I am writing to present a second opinion concerning the candidiasis hypersensitivity syndrome as described by Shapiro and Anderson. Although the candida hypothesis was said to be "unproven" and a warning was expressed about the "potentially adverse effects of long-term antibiotic therapy," there is scientific support for a different point of view. The relationship of yeast to urticaria has been established in a well-designed double-blind trial. There is also evidence that gut yeast may play a role in some cases of psoriasis.
