Abstract
The letter by Dr Goldenring regarding girls on boys' teams (Pediatrics 1986;78:718) and the reply by Dr Dyment fail to address a singular and insidious problem of even greater dimensions, that of boys on girls' teams.
Dr Goldenring is not wrong about the issue of injury to girls physically when they play against boys. There are increasing reports of such injuries. Dr Dyment is not wrong in his belief that the girls should have access if they can play well enough to make the team.
