Abstract
In his commentary, Kwiterovich has done science a disservice. In his opening section, he acknowledges that more information is needed to establish the factors involved in the development of atherosclerosis. He then poses the question, "What are the available data, and, given the current state of the evidence, are physicians and scientists able to make a reasonable and sound recommendation?" Indeed, in the minds of some the available evidence is sufficient at this time to make dietary recommendations designed to reduce the risk of the consequences of atherosclerosis.
