Abstract
We read Dr Harkavy's letter with a great deal of interest. He addresses several important issues regarding our findings. Obviously, circumcision is not a randomly performed procedure. We have reviewed the records of all male infants from the first part of the current study and from our previous investigation. There were no differences in the two populations regarding socioeconomic status/military rank, race, or incidence of prematurity. The circumcised and uncircumcised groups were virtually indistinguishable. The presence of hypospadias was not a factor.
