Abstract
We are grateful to Dr. Poland for the care with which he read our article. He is correct in pointing out that the anticoagulant used in the blood for the exchange transfusion (ET) made a difference in the bilirubin binding at the end of the procedure. As is shown in the Table, there was a significant difference between the means of the two groups when either the pre-ET values minus the post-ET values or the expected values minus the actual values at the end of the ET were examined.
