Abstract
While the utility and ease of diagnosis by computerized axial tomography (CAT) continue to be demonstrated in new situations, as in the evaluation of chronic seizure disorders by Bachman et al. (Pediatrics 58:828, December 1976), the logistics and availability of this now invaluable tool are such in many centers that there must be priorities set for its use.
Thus, the CAT might more profitably be used in the evaluation of patients whose patterns of chronic seizure disorders have changed, with the thought that the yield in terms of treatable pathology might be higher than the 2% reported by Bachman et al. in static seizure disorders.
