Abstract
We appreciate the opportunity to respond to the comments made by J.A. Monteleone et al. concerning our paper, "Galactokinase deficiency in twins: Clinical and biochemical studies."
It is apparent that Monteleone and his colleagues have not read our paper carefully, since we do not use the term "galactose-free" diet. Rather the term "lactose-free" formula or diet is employed with full recognition that Nutramigen is known to contain a small residual amount of lactose.
The experience in this laboratory with galactokinase deficiency has been only with the two patients described in our paper.
