Abstract
Jaffe and Jaffe in their recent excellent article1 have reminded us that one out of six malignant neck tumors has its origin in the nasopharynx. They recommend examination of this relatively inaccessible site by means of direct viewing through the nose, indirect viewing via a nasopharynx mirror, or palpation. Since all of these techniques are difficult for the physician who does not use them frequently, I would appreciate their comments on the reliability of a lateral soft-tissue film of the neck for detection of nasopharyngeal masses.
