Abstract
The Home Medical Service students learn diagnostic and therapeutic potential of home visits. Assuming responsibility for patient care, students develop a clinical approach, become critical of their treatment and prescriptions, and see benefits of home care. Students see common disorders early and learn to prevent complications which may need admission to hospital. Students actually get into the community and see for themselves the problems of living in the inner city. These medical students provide a good service and could make a valuable contribution to the health needs of these children.
