Abstract

Traspaso Placentario Bidireccional de I131 #3:5:3 Triyodotironina en el Mono Rhesus

El traspaso placentario de I131-rotulado triyodotironina ha sido estudiado en el mono Rhesus. La mayoría del traspaso placentario de radioactividad de maternal a fetal era en forma de yuduro y un compuesto químicamente no identificado de cromatogramas. Solo se descubrieron vestigios de triyodotironina o tiroxina. En los estudios de traspaso fetal a maternal, la triyodotironina se transfería más prontamente a la circulación materna con pequeñas cantidades de yoduro apareciendo un compuesto similar desconocido. Esta sustancia puede ser triyodotironina conjugada de sulfato. Se usó un nivel de concentración considerablemente más alto en las transferencias fetal a maternal que en la dirección contraria. Se discuten las implicaciones de esa diferencia de nivel.

Los datos de este estudio agregan nuevas pruebas a la experiencia clínica que las hormonas tiroideas maternales no están fácilmente disponibles para hacer frente a las necesidades fetales durante el último término del embarazo.

Concentraciones Extraibles de Suero Butanol en Prematuros

Los neonatos de término, normales, tienen las concentraciones más altas de yodo semejante a tiroxina observadas durante el teérmino de vida de los humanos (7.2-15.2 mg/100 ml). Esas elevadas concentraciones de BEI se han observado también en neonatos sobre 2,500 gm de peso al nacer, los que requirieron transfusiones directas.

Se presentan los datos sobre el bajo nivel de BEI de 20 neonatos de menos de 2,000 gm de peso al nacer en una serie de 210 medidas de BEI de 187 recién nacidos. Los valores medios de BEI aumentaron progresivamente por medio de incrementos de 500 gms de peso al nacer de 2,000 a 2,500 al grupo de 3,500-4,000 gm sin nuevos aumentos para criaturas de más de 4,000 gm. Los requisitos de hormonas tiroideas se han discutido en relación con el desarrrollo del sistema nervioso central.
