Abstract
In response to Dr. Bergman's thoughtful consideration of our article we would like to stress the following points.
As we tried to make clear in the original article, the questionnaire data were offered only to illustrate a possibility which has received little consideration in research to date, not to present substantive findings on the relationship of age and response to hospitalization. The fact remains: the possibility that children may benefit psychologically from hospitalization has not been carefully considered in most research.
