Abstract
After reading Dr. Gould's letter in the May issue (Pediatrics, 33:789), in which he cited the reasons for leaving the private practice of general pediatrics, I would like to enumerate the reasons which make it possible for my associate and myself to practice the new pediatrics with satisfaction.
1. We practice in an area that needs pediatricians. There are about 500,000 people and 2,000 hospital beds in our immediate area, and about 12 pediatricians. I and my associate are 2 of 3 pediatricians in a 500-bed hospital.
