Abstract
The translators and publishers of the English language edition of Professor Albrecht Peiper's extraordinary book have earned the gratitude of this reviewer. I suspect there are a number of my English-speaking colleagues as well who have "read" little beyond the illustrations of the German edition and have wistfully fluttered the pages of this massive volume, half promising themselves to return. Now it is possible to return in comfort to this effective translation. The book is strongest in its elaborately detailed description of position, movement, and locomotion, sections which alone fully justify the book.
