Abstract
In his Commentary, "The Academy and Pediatric Opportunities in Undeveloped Countries" (Pediatrics, 29:687, 1962), Dr. Louis K. Diamond pinpoints reasons why American physicians should consider service in medical facilities of less privileged countries. I support his reasoning that physicians who enter such service have much to gain and much to give. There is also the possibility that the medical effort overseas can be helped in other ways. Physicians in these countries have expressed to us need for assistance other than such service, and American physicians have asked for ways to help even though they are unable to go abroad.
