Dear Dr. Middleton,
As you know, Magee-Womens Hospital is a tertiary referral center. Many children who deliver at Magee receive care outside of our system. Our dataset was only able to track infants that received care within our electronic health system (n=323). We cannot know if the other 702 infants received well-child care, as we did not have access to other electronic health system. I hope this helps to clarify our findings.
Amazing that out of 1025 infants, only 323 received well child care. Perhaps that issue is even larger than the hep C screening. Although not advised, a screen done earlier than age 18 months that is negative would seem to be reassuring. I wonder how egregious such an error could be.
