Ralph D. Feigin, MD, FAAP, who was slated to take over as Pediatrics editor in 2009 after serving as associate editor since 1994, died of lung cancer on Thursday, Aug. 14, at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was 70.
Dr. Feigin, an internationally known expert on infectious diseases, would have succeeded Pediatrics Editor Jerold F. Lucey, MD, FAAP, who is planning to retire in January 2009.
Dr. Feigin was physician-in-chief of Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, and the J.S. Abercrombie Professor of Pediatrics and Department of Pediatrics chairman at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Feigin is survived by his wife, Judith; three children; and six grandchildren.
