The American Academy of Pediatrics recognizes the value of cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity and supports equal opportunity for all residents of the United States. The Academy also encourages teaching all children, adolescents, and young adults to appreciate and respect diversity. In addition, the Academy supports the right of pediatricians to participate in the delivery of health care without discrimiantion based on their race, national origin, religion, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
