To the Editor.—
We are responding to the recent article entitled "Hyperbilirubinemia in Low Birth Weight Infants and Outcome at 5 Years of Age"1 as well as its predecessor "Hyperbilirubinemia in Preterm Infants and Neurodevelopmental Outcome at 2 Years of Age."2
Both articles are equally impressive for the quality of follow-up and the careful analysis of the data. However, there are several questions that merit clarification:
1. Three hundred sixty-one children from the original cohort died within the first 2 years of life, or 27% of the original cohort.
