In the article "Inverted Tandem Duplication of the Middle Segment of the Long Arm of Chromosome 14" by Strain et al (Pediatrics 67:273-276, 1981) the following omission. As described in the report of the cytogenetic findings, the proband is partially trisomic for the medial portion of the long arm of chromosome 14 (q243→q130). In addition, the proband is partially monosomic for the terminal portion of chromosome 14 (q321→qter). Monosomy for the terminal portion of the long arm of chromosome 14 may, in part, account for the phenotypic variability of the reported cases when compared to previous reports of trisomy 14 without the presence of partial monosomy.
