Since this study was completed, we have continued to screen only females for bacteriuria. Using the above guidelines, 20 children were positive on screening in 1971 . Sixteen of them returned for repeat clean catch cultures. Nine of these returns were within one week, and an additional four within two weeks of the original screen. Of all of the repeat cultures, 12 were positive, two negative, and two questionable. These results are similar to those reported above with the exception that the repeat cultures were obtained within a shorter period of time.
