Your very nice article mentions the various challenges in dealing with the sickle cell disease.

An interesting personal observation that I wish to share with you is that children with sickle cell disease who have been exclusively breast fed for six months rarely if ever present with complications later on.

Studies are required to confirm this observation. Unfortunately, race plays a part here again. Most African American mothers will not exclusively breastfeed their children for six months for a variety of reasons.
