Your article looks very nicely at the pediatric hospitalist system. A
review of 47 studies is very impressive.
Another way to look at the variables affecting outcome may be the
educational background and prior pediatric experience of the physicians
who are selected as hospitalists.
The proportion of international medical graduates (IMGs) for instance
may be low in the current pediatric hospitalist population. One reason can
be the fact that hospitals are reluctant to grant J1 waivers to foreign
graduates. One-year renewable contract policy of hospitals may also
conflict with a three year service requirement for H1B foreign graduates.
