Although DEHP metabolites were detected in the urine of NICU babies it is unclear to me why this would be of concern. There was no mention nor discussion in the article of any adverse effects of these metabolites in humans. Measuring a metabolite and citing any ill effects from these metabolites would be more interesting and clinically relevant. Continuing with your research would be interesting if you can follow these babies up long term and show over time if any ill side effects are attributable to this exposure.
