Re: AAP and Gun Control

Some facts: 1. Semiautomatic firearms are commonly used for hunting, and have been so for a century. 2. Automatic weapons are true machine guns, not semiautomatics. They have been available for civilian posession as long as they have existed. In the US they require registration with BATFE and an annual tax, I believe $200 per weapon. Their use in crime is nonexistent. 3. States which have enacted "Shall-issue" laws liberalizing carrying of concealed handguns by private citizens have all-every one- seen either a decrease in gun violence or no change. 4. While gun-banners cite the tens of thousands of annual firearm deaths, they neglect to mention the vastly greater-by orders of magnitude-number of occasions when citizens defend themselves from criminals by using a firearm. Guns save far more lives than they take. 5. District of Columbia vs Heller, 2008. If you want to ban guns, you'll have to amend the Constitution. 6. Want to take my guns? COME AND GET THEM.
