I viewed this article online. It would be useful if the instrument could be published online so that we could download it and use it if we wished. I always get frustrated when instruments are reported on and not available easily.

Thank you for your letter regarding the Children's Health Survey for Asthma (CHSA). We are pleased about the excitement and interest this measure continues to generate!

One of our primary goals in making the CHSA publically available is to make the instrument easily accessible for those who wish to use it. However, we feel it is a disservice to users to simply release the measure without supporting documentation (eg, scale computations) and technical assistance. We are currently examining the ways in which we can best provide this information to meet the needs of a diverse group of users.
