An error appeared in the Experience and ReasonBrieflyRecorded by Tan et al, titled "Isolated Sulfite Oxidase Deficiency:A Case Report With a Novel Mutation and Review of the Literature"that was published in the September 2005 issue of Pediatrics(2005;116:757766). On page 758, the last line in column2, the authors wrote: "The patient was homozygous for a novel4-base pair deletion (c.2037-2040delTAGA) in exon 3 that ledto a frameshift and resulted in a prematurely truncated protein."This sentence should have read as follows: "The patient washomozygous for a novel 4-base pair deletion (c.1142-1145delTAGA)in exon 3 that led to a frameshift and resulted in a prematurelytruncated protein." The same error appears on page 763, Table1, column 22 in the Mutations in SUOX row. The table currentlyreads: "c2037-2040delTAGA." It should read: "c.1142-1145delTAGA."The authors state that to the best of their knowledge, thisremains a new, previously unreported mutation, and this errorin nomenclature does not alter the substance nor the importanceof the publication in any way.
