Cisapride and Proarrhythmia in Childhood

To the Editor.

We read with interest the article by Hill et al1 regarding proarrhythmia associated with cisapride therapy in childhood. In light of the aforementioned article and that of Schwartz et al2 demonstrating the association of a long QT interval with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), we feel it relevant to report our study on the effects of cisapride on QTc interval, heart rate, and rhythm in infants. One hundred sixty infants, aged 2 to 54 weeks, were enrolled for polysomnographic study.
