In the August 1993 issue of Pediatrics, Asano et al presented the successful experience in postexposure prophylaxis of varicella for healthy children by oral acyclovir (ACV).1 They discussed that postexposure prophylaxis by oral ACV has not been examined in immunocompromised patients. We experienced three children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) exposed to varicella and tried postexposure prophylaxis by oral ACV with informed consent of their parents.
