Letters to the Editor

Cheston M. Berlin Jr MD1

1 AAP Committee on Drugs, The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA 17033

The Committee on Drugs appreciates the opportunity to reply to the letters of Drs Eidelman and Anderson.

Dr Eidelman is concerned over the inclusion of atenolol in Table 6 (compatible with breast-feeding). We agree this is an error. The previous edition of this statement on "Transfer of Drugs and Other Chemicals Into Human Milk," published in 1989, did not have this citation. The paper by Eidelman and colleagues, published in 1989, was added to the list for revision, but atenolol was not moved to a more appropriate table.
