We appreciate Dr Serwint's careful reading of our study and respond to the three points she raises as follows.
Outcomes were measured at 30 and 60 minutes after treatment because clinical responses to nebulized albuterol, as well as side effects and oxygen desaturation, among infants and children have been reported sooner than 1 hour posttreatment in several studies (citations limited to recent references).1-4 It is also common clinical practice to assess children receiving nebulized albuterol every 20 to 30 minutes.
