We thank Alexander and Terndrup for their comments on our paper and appreciate the opportunity to respond to them.
Those performing FIRST temp measurements for our study were instructed to use both the appropriate mode and "offsets" for comparison. Although we did not independently verify the "offset" for each temperature determination, we have no reason to suspect it was not performed appropriately.
However, it is the misinterpretation by Alexander and Terndrup of the meaning of "mean differences" in Table 2 that is of greater concern.
