What's this?

Dosage of Carbamazepine (Tegretol) Suspension

BRADLEY W. WHITMAN MD1

1 Department of Neurology, Children's National Medical Center, Washington, DC

To the Editor.—

The current edition (12th) of The Harriet Lane Handbook contains an error which should be brought to the attention of readers and clinicians referring to this publication.

In the medication dosage section of the Handbook, Tegretol is listed, incorrectly, as being available in a suspension of 100 mg/mL, while the only suspension form of this product which is commercially available is the 100 mg/5 mL form.1,2 This has been confirmed with the Ciba-Geigy Company which manufacturers Tegretol (Ciba-Geigy, personal communication, November 1991).
