Children's Health Project Update

IRWIN REDLENER MD1 and KAREN BURKE MD1

1 Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, New York, New York 10021

To the Editor.—

The September 1991 notation in Pediatrics regarding the New York Children's Health Project is appreciated. We thought readers would be interested in an update regarding the activities of this unusual initiative serving, as of August 1991, 25% of New York City's homeless child population of some 8000 to 10 000 children.

The Project now utilizes three fully equipped, mobile pediatric offices bringing pediatrician-led teams to shelter sites on a regularly scheduled basis. Comprehensive, continuity-based primary care is emphasized.
