We agree with Dr Pachter's point about the distinction between race and culture and about the relative insensitivity of race as a variable where ethnicity is the relevant concern. The division of our sample into white and nonwhite categories provided only the crudest measure of ethnicity. Our findings of a difference between the two groups certainly warrants further exploration of the beliefs about cosleeping among different ethnic/cultural groups.
