Half-Dose Immunization for Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis

WM. B. ROGERS MD1

1 1925 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

To the Editor.—

I would like to praise Judy Bernbaum for the amount of work she has done on half-dose immunization for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis as reported in Pediatrics.1 I feel, however, that the work she has begun is incomplete.

It is unfair to compare the effectiveness of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis vaccine when given as three doses totaling 1.5 mL against three doses totaling only 0.75 mL.

I call upon Dr Bernbaum to complete her study by giving her half-dose recipients three more half-doses so that their total dosage is also 1.5 mL like the full-dose recipients.
