Dr Braun's conjecture regarding our study's conclusions is incorrect. He has misinterpreted the methods and results presented in our recent report.1 We stated that we were interested in bacteremia that related to the uncircumcised state or to the circumcision procedure itself. We did not include cases of neonatal bacteremia that could not be attributed to either condition. Of 108 boys with urinary tract infections, 37 (34.3%) had concomitant bacteremia (virtually all were due to Escherichia coli).
