We appreciate the interest in our manuscript. With regard to the first issue, the blood pressure epochs were initially selected with the esophageal tracings covered to avoid bias. Second, we are well aware of the interesting data regarding the interaction between the infant and the ventilator.1-3 The objective of the study was to determine the effects of infant respirations on blood pressure. The data clearly indicate that respiratory pressure changes result in fluctuations in blood pressure.
