To the Editor.
We would like to applaud the letter by Plaut et al (Pediatrics 1988;81:174) urging that pediatricians not hesitate diagnosing asthma in children whose wheezing is eradicated by antiasthma medicines. Parents may be upset if some of the myths about asthma are not dispelled at the same time. However, parents of children referred to our medical center are often more upset to find that their pediatrician has been giving their child antiasthma medicines for years without calling it asthma.
