To the Editor.
After reading the article by Raney et al,1 we were stimulated to communicate a different experience with diverse cases of fibromatosis. It is about the original findings that were at first communicated by Lanari in 1976.2 Bearing in mind the usefulness of progesterone in the remission of estrogen-induced fibromas, Lanari used it to treat a patient with a mediastinal fibromatosis. After two unsuccessful thoracotomies, both pain and fibromatosis continued to increase, and the latter threatened to ulcerate the skin of the anterior wall of the thorax.
