Health Assessment and Screening During Adolescence

SARAH K. WEINBERG MD1

1 Pediatric Center of Woodinville, 17330—135th Ave, NE, Woodinville, WA 98072

To the Editor.—

I have a few comments to make regarding the supplement by Marks and Fisher (Pediatrics 1987;80:131-158). I am in solo practice in a suburban setting, and I also attend at the Sports Medicine Clinic at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Because of my sports medicine interest, a larger than usual portion of my time is spent seeing adolescents for "sports physicals." Yet, because I am also the primary care physician for these patients, even if the sports physical visit is the first time I have met the family, I feel obligated to do a complete health screening at the same time.
