Dr Goldman's point is an important one. By the 1990s, it is estimated that between 65% and 75% of mothers of children younger than 18 years will be in the work force. As Dr Goldman states, these women might not be aware of an onset of illness or a change in condition of their children until early evening when they return home from work.
I agree that all pediatricians should be cognizant of the needs of working parents.
